Troubleshooting
Waho troubleshooting
Eight problems people actually hit, each with its likely causes, the steps worth trying in order, and the point at which it stops being something you can fix.
Waho won’t open
You tap the icon and the app closes immediately, shows a blank screen, or the splash screen never moves on.
Possible causes
- A corrupted cache left behind by an interrupted update.
- An outdated app build that no longer matches the server.
- An out-of-date Android System WebView or Google Play services.
- The device is critically low on free storage.
- Battery optimisation is killing the app as it launches.
Steps to try
- Force-close the app: Settings → Apps → Waho → Force stop, then open it again.
- Restart the phone. This clears a surprising share of launch failures on its own.
- Clear the cache: Settings → Apps → Waho → Storage → Clear cache. Do not tap Clear storage yet — that signs you out.
- Update Waho in Google Play.
- Update Android System WebView and Google Play services from Google Play. Both are used by apps that render web content, and stale versions break launches.
- Free up storage if you’re close to full.
- Set Settings → Apps → Waho → Battery → Unrestricted.
- As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall from Google Play, then sign in with your original method — see the login guide.
Waho keeps crashing
The app opens but closes unexpectedly — often on a specific screen such as a live stream, a voice room or a game.
Possible causes
- Memory pressure — live video and games are the heaviest parts of the app.
- A stale cache after an update.
- A missing permission the screen requires, such as microphone or camera.
- An outdated build with a bug the developer has since fixed.
- Too many apps running in the background on a device with limited RAM.
Steps to try
- Note where it crashes. A crash only in voice rooms points at microphone permission; a crash only in streams points at camera or memory.
- Close other apps, especially anything playing video or music.
- Clear the cache: Settings → Apps → Waho → Storage → Clear cache.
- Check permissions: Settings → Apps → Waho → Permissions. Grant microphone for voice, camera for broadcasting.
- Update Waho in Google Play — a crash that affects many users is usually fixed in a later build.
- Restart the phone.
- If it still crashes on one screen only, avoid that screen and report it to the developer with the exact steps that trigger it.
Waho won’t load content
The app opens but rooms, streams or the Moments feed stay empty, spin indefinitely, or show a connection error.
Possible causes
- A weak or intermittent connection — the app needs steady throughput, not just a bar of signal.
- A captive Wi-Fi portal (hotel, café, campus) that hasn’t been signed into.
- A VPN, DNS filter or firewall blocking the app’s traffic.
- Data saver or background data restrictions.
- A temporary problem on the app’s own servers.
Steps to try
- Open a web page in your browser to confirm the connection actually works.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If it works on one and not the other, the network is the problem.
- Turn off any VPN or private DNS temporarily.
- Turn off Data Saver: Settings → Network & internet → Data Saver, and allow Waho unrestricted data usage in Settings → Apps → Waho → Mobile data & Wi-Fi.
- Toggle flight mode on and off to force the phone to re-register with the network.
- Clear the cache and reopen.
- If everything else on your phone works and only Waho doesn’t, wait twenty minutes — server-side problems resolve without you.
Waho voice chat problems
Nobody can hear you in a voice room, you can’t hear the room, or the audio is echoing and cutting out.
Possible causes
- Microphone permission was never granted, or was revoked.
- You’re muted in the room, or not holding a seat that allows speaking.
- Another app is holding the microphone — a call, a recorder, another voice app.
- Audio is routed to a Bluetooth device you’d forgotten was connected.
- Media volume is down, or Do Not Disturb is muting app audio.
- An unstable connection producing dropouts.
Steps to try
- Check microphone permission first. Settings → Apps → Waho → Permissions → Microphone → Allow. This is the single most common cause.
- Check whether you’re muted in the room, and whether you hold a seat.
- End any phone call and close other voice or recording apps.
- Disconnect Bluetooth headsets you aren’t using, then rejoin the room.
- Turn media volume up — not just ringer volume.
- Use wired or Bluetooth headphones. Speaker audio feeding back into the microphone is the usual cause of echo that others hear but you don’t.
- Switch networks if the audio cuts in and out; voice needs a steady connection more than a fast one.
- Leave the room and rejoin, then restart the app if that doesn’t help.
Waho live stream problems
A stream won’t start, the video is frozen or pixelated, or your broadcast drops out repeatedly.
Possible causes
- Camera or microphone permission is missing.
- Upload bandwidth is too low — broadcasting needs upstream capacity, which most connections have far less of than download.
- The device is overheating and throttling, which video encoding causes quickly.
- Another app is using the camera.
- Battery saver is limiting performance or background activity.
Steps to try
- Grant camera and microphone permission in Settings → Apps → Waho → Permissions.
- Close any other app that uses the camera, then reopen Waho.
- Move to stronger Wi-Fi. Broadcasting from a weak connection produces exactly the frozen, blocky video people describe.
- Let the phone cool down if it’s hot. Sustained video encoding throttles the processor, and quality drops as a result.
- Turn off battery saver while streaming.
- Close background apps to free memory.
- If only watching is affected, clear the cache and switch networks — the problem is on the receiving side.
Waho login problems
You can’t sign in, a verification code never arrives, or the app signs you straight back out.
Possible causes
- Signing in with a different method than you registered with.
- A verification code delayed by the carrier, or filtered as spam.
- A VPN or captive portal blocking the sign-in request.
- An outdated app build.
- Battery optimisation terminating the app and dropping the session.
Steps to try
- Use the same sign-in method you registered with. A different method usually creates a new, empty account rather than recovering yours.
- Wait two full minutes for a code before requesting another — repeated requests can trigger rate limiting.
- Turn off VPN or private DNS and try again.
- Update Waho in Google Play.
- Clear the cache (not storage), then retry.
- Set Settings → Apps → Waho → Battery → Unrestricted if you’re being signed out repeatedly.
Waho update problems
An update won’t download, gets stuck partway, or fails with a Google Play error code.
Possible causes
- Not enough free storage for the download plus unpacking.
- Auto-update is restricted to Wi-Fi and you’re on mobile data.
- A corrupted Google Play Store cache.
- A stuck download queue.
- Google Play services out of date.
Steps to try
- Free up storage — leave a comfortable margin, not just enough to fit the file.
- Connect to Wi-Fi, or change Play Store → profile → Settings → Network preferences → Auto-update apps.
- Clear the Play Store cache: Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage → Clear cache.
- Cancel the update in Manage apps & device and start it again.
- Restart the phone to clear a stuck queue.
- Update Google Play services.
- Uninstall and reinstall Waho from Google Play if nothing else works.
Waho installation problems
Install is greyed out, the download never starts, or installation fails with an error.
Possible causes
- The device doesn’t meet the listing’s requirements — Google Play disables Install when that’s the case.
- The app isn’t distributed in your Google Play country setting.
- Insufficient free storage.
- A Play Store cache or account problem.
- A network that drops the download partway.
Steps to try
- Open the Play listing on the phone itself and read what the button says. “This app isn’t available for your device” is a compatibility answer, not a fault.
- Check your Play country setting: Play Store → profile → Settings → General → Account and device preferences.
- Free up storage and try again.
- Clear the Play Store cache, then its data if the cache alone doesn’t help.
- Remove and re-add your Google account on the device.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and restart the download.
Cache vs storage — the distinction that matters
Half the advice on the internet says “clear the app data”, which is destructive advice given casually.
| Action | What it removes | Do you get signed out? |
|---|---|---|
| Clear cache | Temporary files — thumbnails, buffered media | No. Safe to do any time. |
| Clear storage / data | Everything the app has saved locally, including your session | Yes. Treat it as a reinstall. |
Always try cache first. Reach for storage only when you're prepared to sign in again — and make sure you know which sign-in method you registered with before you do. Google's guide to clearing an app cache or storage covers the mechanics.
When to contact support
Take it to the developer when:
- the problem persists after a clean reinstall,
- it affects your account rather than the app — access, data, purchases,
- a purchase didn’t deliver what it should have,
- you need account or data deletion,
- you’re reporting another user or a room.
