Voice room etiquette on Waho

A Waho voice room holds up to 15 people, per the developer's description. That's small enough that one person getting it wrong is obvious to everyone. None of what follows is an official rule — it's the pattern that holds across live audio rooms generally.

Listen before you take a seat

Joining as a listener costs nothing and tells you everything: who the host is, what the room is about, whether it's a conversation or a performance. Five minutes of that will save you from opening with something that lands badly.

Microphone habits

• Use headphones. Speaker audio loops back into your microphone. You won’t hear it; everyone else will.
• Mute when you’re not speaking. Keyboards, traffic and television all carry further than you think.
• Don’t test your mic on the room. “Can you hear me? Hello? Testing?” repeated four times is the fastest way to be remembered badly.
• One conversation at a time. Talking over the host in a room built around them doesn’t work.

The gifting question

Waho has a visible gift economy, and gifts cost real money. In an active room you'll see animations and banners constantly, and it creates a pull.

Leaving

You can leave a room at any time without explanation. There's no social debt in a live audio room, and announcing your departure in a busy room mostly interrupts whoever was speaking.
